Making this beautiful quilt got me through the longest, dreariest winter I've ever experienced. My daughter had taken our beloved Granbaby and moved to Tennesee. I was devastated, and the black and white landscape outside the window didn't help any. But seeing the quilt, slowly taking shape in all it's glorious color lightened my mood considerably. By the time spring was on it's way it was time to plan the quilting. The pieced flowers are stitched in the ditch, surrounded with stippling. The outer purple triangles have numerous spicies of butterflies in ovals and in between the rosebud border blocks there is every kind of spring bird I could think of. The outer purple border is feathered, with a rising sun in the middle of each. |
